Chester the Church Mouse

Chester the Church Mouse and Chester Joins the Choir — Stories from St. Germain’s!

Two new children’s books by Allan Mullen bring the warmth, music, and community of St. Germain Church in Hoodsport to life through the adventures of a curious little mouse.

A Tale of Kindness and Exploration — Chester the Church Mouse

In Chester the Church Mouse, Allan Mullen (with Peggy Pennington) introduces Chester, a tiny but adventurous forest mouse who stumbles into the grand world of our church.

Following the scent of something sweet and warm, Chester explores the church’s beautiful spaces — from behind benches to across piano keys — in a playful, sound‑effect‑filled journey. Along the way, he meets friendly characters like Carrie, a gentle girl who makes him feel safe, and Peggy, the warm baker who welcomes him with cookies.

The story is a gentle, heartwarming message about kindness, hospitality, and overcoming fears, showing children that the church is a safe, loving place.

A Story of Harmony and Belonging – Chester Joins the Choir: A Tale of Harmony and Song by Allan Mullen (with Mary Flynn) continues Chester’s journey.

In this book, Chester discovers the music and community life of St. Germain’s, finding his place among the choir. With the help of his friend Carrie and Choir Director Donna, Chester discovers you don’t need a big voice to make a big difference. The tale celebrates the beauty of song, the joy of belonging, and the way music can unite people in a shared, uplifting experience.

Both books are rooted in the real‑life setting of St. Germain Church in Hoodsport, making them a special way to share the church’s history, values, and spirit with children and families.

These stories are more than just children’s fiction — they are a celebration of St. Germain’s heart, music, and the place where Chester found his home.
